during the summer I was driving with my AC on and the fan setting 1 stopped working.... No biggie I turned it to #2 setting, That worked for about a week then that one went out.... so I would use setting 3.... That one went out a few days later. It cooled off and I don't use my AC any more, but now that its getting colder in the very early morning I turned on my heat and it reminded me its full blast fan or nothing, I know its a matter of time before that goes out and I have no heat, I would like to get it fixed this weekend. Any one know what this could be? I Think it could be the fan knob/switch it self that has gone bad.... but I have no idea how it works, I never pulled the dash apart yet. Any ideas?

Yup, I've got the same troubles. Only my two lowest settings are not working. Any suggestions?
02 2.5.L automatic: 4.0L t.b., 4.0l air intake, K&N filter, Scream'n Demon coil, 8.5mm MSD Super Conductor plug wires, Stage 1 Jet Chip, 29" BFG all terrain KO's. Taurus E-fan, Hummer front bumper, Skyjacker high capacity trans pan, 48" hi-lift, Rubi susp w. 3/4" BB.

i have 2 ideas.. one it could be the switch. or 2 it could be a relay/ relays going bad or maybe bad conections.. we had a relay go bad on our s10 so we didnt have high for our fan and we jsut needed a new relay.. but more than 1 goign bad sounds fishy :fish:

I think I will just replace the switch first. Any ideas where to get something like that other than the stealership?

Try the local scrap yard first. Mine was a relay. I went to the yard and paid the guy .50 for it.  8)

Its very common on any vehicle.... the resistor block burnt out. The high speed will always be there unless the blower (fan) motor takes a crap. The resistor block is not used on high. the resistor block works by reducing the amount of voltage to the blower (fan) motor, depending on speed low, med. ON high speed battery voltage (12v) is aplied to motor. When the voltage is being reduce by the block, it builds alot of heat eventually the heat melts one or more of the circuits.. causing one or more speeds to be lost. Any auto parts store should have them. ( or just go to jeep) I work at a shop and get discount on parts. Pm me if u need help geeting it...

I had this same problem with a 2000 grand am se. Actually, that was one of many problems with this car that I had. So... I traded it for the current Jeep.

Just an update, This was the problem!
That guy got me the part and I installed it today...
Problem fixed! I don't know how much the part cost, he got me a cut rate at $13.
