Where's the pcv?
« on: February 15, 2007, 11:15:20 AM »
As part of my rebuild of the YJ, I'm doing all the general maintenance to it and keeping/replacing all of the emmissions stuff.  We don't have inspections here, but I don't see any reason to get rid of the cat/ evap canister and other emmissions.

I ordered a PCV valve and figured it went right in the top of the valve cover like every other one I've seen.  Managed to snap off that 90 degree elbow and never did find a pcv valve.  Any thoughts?

Thanks

Chuck

What year is the Jeep.  MPFI's don't have a PCV Valve.  Only a TBI pre '91 would.  So if you have a Post '90 you will have a freshair vent and a Crank case vent.

Yeah no "pvc" that you can change...... but the little Brass barb fitting in the valve cover towards the front pointing towards your drivers side fender has an orafice(spellcheck please!) in it that I had to clean out on mine....  the hose just goes to manifold vacuum......  the elbow on top is just a fresh air line piped into the intake air filter housing.  Atleast if yours is like my '94

It's a 94. Funny that the parts store came up with a pcv for it.  Guess I just need to find a replacement elbow and grommet for my valve cover since I snapped it off trying to remove it. (Edit: quick call to the dealer, looks like it was only a $10 mistake, that's not so bad)

It's always something;)  New carsound cat showed up today, just waiting on the flowmaster 60 and the exhaust will be done.

Thanks
