does anyone think that this will work. - http://www.mimousa.com/info/blowerinfo.asp

my 89 yj 4 banger is my daily driver and i just need a 10 mph gain so i can go on the highway occasionally. as of now the jeep can only get up to 60mph. any suggestions on a cost effective way to reach my goal if the electric supercharger won't work?

Just say no!
I haven't ever heard any good things about those.
Plus, at only 3000 RPMs, the 2.5l engine is pulling in more air than that little leaf blower will put out.

Something must be seriously wrong if your Jeep is only able to so 60mph.  If I remember right it was the stock red one with the TJ Grizzly wheels.  How high do you rev the engine?  Did you recalibrate your speedometer when you put larger tires on?  Stock are 205.75R15's and use a 41T speedometer pinion gear.  If you've increased the tire size, the speedometer will read slower then it actually should be.  A GPS or speed trap would help verify this.

As for that electric supercharger, it's not a supercharger and does nto produce enough CFM to compress the air.

I will have to borrow a GPS to confirm my suspicions. The tires I put on my jeep I took off a TJ in the junkyard and they are not much bigger that the stock ones that were on my YJ. And with the throttle wide open in 5th the highest I can get it up to is 65. it runs great otherwise. Very reliable, starts right up, no knock or noises.  I fear I will have to spend a lot of time trouble shooting different things until I can find out why it is so slow.

Stop trying to drive it to a top speed in 5th.  5th is an overdrive gear, it's not for passing.  Leave it in 4th and rev it up.  Also keep in mind your driving a box.  If there is a headwind, you'll need to downshift and rev up.  Even with my poor gearing and 35's I can get up to 65mph, fairly easily and edge up to 80mph if the condition are right.

I only shif into 5th gear because 4th tops out at 55mph at 4grand. I am starting to thing there is a gearing problem or power problem.

Ha i go 55 in 3rd to get up to speed.. don't remember the rpm but its around 4.. (i haven't driven my jeep in 2007 yet :'(.. partly cuz my tabs expired and didn't get my new ones tell yesterday.)

Have you done any modifications to your Jeep? Any intake, exhaust, gearing ?

I have 33x13.50's on mine and I can cruise at 65mph in 5th.  Of course with headwind, as mentioned earlier, and slight increase in grade causes me to slow down. 

Maybe you need a major tuneup.

Sounds like you (OP) may have lower than stock gearing based on the gear/rpm data you give.  A given rpm through a given gearing should give you the same speed regardless of your engine.

Just curious, what is the minumum CFM to compress the air, and what that relates to in terms of PSI?
