Anyone ever rebuild the stock steering box?
« on: March 06, 2007, 01:06:41 PM »
It is leaking down the shaft that the pitman arm connects to.  There is still plenty of power steering fluid, or does that go somewhere else?

I have found a rebuild kit (gaskets) for $12.00.  New steering box on ebay is $235/free shipping.

Thanks

From what I remember TJ steering boxes suck.  They went cheap with the seals and they are prone to leaking.  I believe some people use YJ or other seal kits to fix them.  Although most people will just swap in a reman. so they won't have to deal with taking apart the box.
