anybody have unit bearing crossover guide?
« on: April 02, 2007, 06:58:15 PM »
need to now how the unit bearings change from year to year.  my dealer shows almost every jeep with different bearings but I thought all hp30's were the same. i found some take off unit bearings from a hp 30 cherokee and i want them to fit my yj but all the listings i see show different numbers. anybody know if these will work or not.

I don't see why not. Its just a 3 bolt pattern mount with inner splines for the shaft. Before you buy from a dealer with their outragious pricing, check your local truck supplier. Check your yellow pages under truck supply, light, medium, and heavy duty truck supplier.
Here in KC, in the club is a manager from Inland Truck Parts and we get special pricing for items we need for our 1/4 ton Jeeps. Well, some Jeeps actually do have 1ton running gear, but to them that's still light weight. We also get driveshafts done, gear and locker work, etc. Parts are readily available in less than a day if not on the shelf.

I can't remember what the differences in the wheel bearings are.  I think it has to do with the spacing of the flange and it's alignment with the brakes.  You might find something about it by searching for ZJ Highsteer conversion.

maybe i will just pop for new ones.  i really don't want to get into align issues and i will be changing to another hp30 that i am setting up now and i would like to know that it will all just changeover when ready

buy the way what i meant by my dealer was the dealer that i work for.  i won't buy them there even at my price i was just mentioning that i used our parts listings to compare and saw the differant part numbers.
