Topic: Regearing with the 2.4L

Just wandering what gear and tire combo, any of you went with, to use the bigger meats, with the 2.4L in your TJ. Just throwing around ideas right now, because i want to up size soon, to maybe a set of 31s. My 2.4L is kind'a week on a hill with P225/75/15s Wrangler GSA's, and there only 28" tall.

I'"Yeah" 28" tall tires, with 4.11s and a 2.4L motor. With the 31s im thinkin of, would i be beter off with 4.88s instead of 4.56s? (Oppinions Please)

Go with the 4.88, you'll be glad you did.  Nobody really stops at 31" anyway, you'll get inchitis and go bigger someday.

Besides, 4.11 to 4.56 isn't enough of an improvement to justify the $$ and time spent regearing.

Which type of tranny do you have?  Does it have an overdrive?

It sounds like he's got a 5-speed since the 6-speeds have 3.73's universally.  If he was one of the lucky ones with the 5-speed and 4.56's he wouldn't be complaining as much.

Thanx fella's for the responce. Yeah i do have a 5 speed, which is the NV1500 5 speed. I like the comment (inchitis) you made there (Bounty Hunter) LOL my girlfriend get that way every night.
