need help with A/C switch
« on: August 10, 2007, 06:18:35 PM »
Hey guys need help. First off I am new to the wrangler world (2001 2.5 of course), had a cherokee for years. I live just south of memphis.

Now, HELP. my A/C fan control stopped working on the top 2 settings. I found a post earlier that said that 1-2 go through the resister box, but 3-4 use something else locate somewhere else. I can not find that post and I wanted to check it out before i took it to a dealer.
Please help.

thanks

I recommend going to this thread and downloading the appropriate pages.  You'll probably have to get the 1999 since the 2001 aren't up there anymore.

Thanks for moving my post to the right thread.

I have downloaded a manual from some link, I will have to dig it up, they had several. I could not find what I was looking for in the manual, again someone had posted it earlier.

Well I did a DIY fix, I opend up the non servicable switch and cleaned the contacts and somehow managed to put it back together without losing the little ball bearing that I did not see when I took it apart. I have at least one of the higher speeds now, both if I wiggle it, I figure that it will work till I can get a replacement.

Agina thanks for your help guys, I have learned a lot from this place already

I think disassembling and cleaning or just replacing the whole thing are you're only options.  Congrats for getting it half working though!  :thumb:
