Hey guys, I have a small issue with some minor hesitation. I'm not very worried about it, but I would like to know if it is normal or not.

First I have a stock NV1500 trany and a 2.4 stock. I am running stock tires and wheels also.

The problem is when I'm under a "load" or just going up hill in 4th or 5th gear there is a strange hesitation. The hesitation seems to only happen under said load at low RPM's such as 1500 or 2100, depending on circumstances. I have also noticed it in 3rd gear but rarely. When the hesitation happens under these described circumstances, I am usually trying to accelerate and believe I may be giving it too much gas. The hesitation stops as soon as I let off the gas, but will re-occur as soon as I apply the same level of gas. It will only stop when I apply less gas until I'm higher in the RPM range. Cold weather seems to magnify the condition, but it does not seem to stop when the vehicle is warmed up. Also it does happen in warm weather also.

I asked the dealer about it when I bought the Jeep with 14000 miles on it, they said it was normal for the 4 bangers. Has anyone had the same problem and if so should I be worried. Lastly if the problem is bad what can I do to correct it.

I would check the Gas Filter.  Maybe you got some dirty fuel and it is restricting the flow under load.

OK thanks, I'll look into the fuel delivery. So you guys don't think it's a clutch issue, maybe slipping at low RPM?

Hard to say.  Have you tried different gas?  It could be misfiring, which feels like a sudden lack of power.  Could also be running lean so there isn't enough of an explosion to make proper amounts of power.  I'd maybe run different gas and see if there is a difference.  You might also want to run some Sea Foam though the fuel system.  Also, check the spark plugs.  Take note of the color, condition of the electrode and gap.  Check the Rotor and cap as well.  How many miles are on the spark plug wires?

I did have a problem with hesitation on a cherokee after driving at highway speeds, slowing down for tolls, and accelerating back to highway speeds.  Turned out to be the Crank position sensor.  No problems since.

Well the Jeep currently has 40000 miles on it and as I said I bought it in 06 with 14000 miles. I am a firm believer in Sea Foam, worked well in my Ranger. Now that I think about it, I had a similar problem in my Ranger that felt like the Clutch was actually going out. It turned out to be a tune up and filter change due to gas turning bad after sitting for a while. I'll try the Sea Foam first.

The rotar and cap I am not sure about because I think I have a different configuration, but I'll check on the plugs for color such...

Someone on another Forum suggested checking a Fuel sensor of some kind also.
