2.5L from 92 Yj into 90 yj?
« on: February 28, 2008, 05:29:52 PM »
 I'm restoring a 90 yj. It was a 2.5L TBI but the motor was gone when I got it. I just got a wrecked 92 yj with the 2.5L MFI. If I put the engine, harness, and ecu from the 92 into my 90, will my 90 gauges work? Can this even be done? Thanks

No, gauges as well as the harness in the dash is different.  You'll need to gauges and the speedo/tach as well.  Speed sensor harness and sender too.  Might as well get the tank and pump while you're at it.

Could I just get the TBI setup and put it in place of the MFI? I have the 90 ecu. I bought the Jeep after the stupid guy threw away the "tired" 4 banger. :brick: everything else is complete.

You could but then you'll want more power and with MPFI you gain 11 solid horses. It also opens the door for more aftermarket parts.

Thanks for all your help. I guess I'll be completely retrofitting the 90 then. I'll post some pics of the process in the poseur section.
