my 8.8 swap wasn't bad if you know someone with the right tools and a welder. if you're going to stick with 4.10 gears, you can pick up one with 4.10's already, and sometimes a limited slip diff from the junkyards, look for v8 "limited" explorers. your other option, if you want to drop the coin and not have to do any work, is buying a bolt-in 8.8 from OK4wd. For about $1200, you can have a brand new axle with everything ready to bolt in to your YJ.
