I thought the pwr steering pump was the tensioner? Or are you not talking about the serpentine belt?
Other than that, I believe there's four primary differences;
Exhaust manifold
Intake manifold
Crankshaft
Harmonic balancer (pretty sure the 2.5 doesn't use one because it's not heavy enough to cause problems due to imbalance, although I could be completely and retardedly wrong on that)
That's obviously not including the block itself, haha
oh, and on a similar note to the knocking, after shutting off the engine, I can hear knocking in a "1,2,1,2,3" pattern repeating at the very front of the head, could I assume it's both lifters/rockers on the first piston, and the first on the second still moving? It's really odd and somewhat worrying, but ends after a couple minutes. Also, it takes a bit to start up and it always turns over a couple times, then THUDS and settles in a scary fashion when shut off, it's running 156,000~ miles and I think I'll rebuild before it gets too hot down here (Will be a great learning experience for a seventeen-year-old!)
