Jeep just got rear-ended...
« on: July 08, 2008, 10:44:53 AM »
...Jeep - 1.....red Grand Prix - 0

Sitting at a stop light in Muskegon on my way to lunch...this guy pulls away like he has a green light....I guess he should have noticed that not only was the light still red, but a big black Jeep was 4 feet in front of him.

Barely a scratch on my tab and hitch.....his bumper and hood on the other hand have nice new speed holes in them.

Didn't get a pic of his damage as I didn't want to hold up traffic.

The camera makes it look a bit warped.  I though at first it bent your bumper.

well my friend had a bad week last month and got rear ended by 2 jeep liberty's at the same intersection... the first one he won because he was in his truck and the trailer hitch went through the other vehicles bumper.. the second one he lost.. the the rav 4 couldn't handle a hit very well..

moral of the story.. metal bumpers are amazing...  :blbl:

Heavy steel bumpers are nice and all but look at it from a different perspective.  If you got hit hard enough and the bumper didn't give, the impact goes straight to the next weakest link - your frame.   Fixing a bent frame is a lot more expensive than replacing a bumper.  I Got rear-ended about 3 weeks ago pretty hard from someone going 45 mph with no braking and my tubular bumper took the hit and basically collapsed in on itself. But according to three different body shops it saved my frame.  Now I am debating on which type of bumper to get.  I would really like a heavy duty one but if I ever get in that situation again I don't want them totaling my jeep because the frame got bent.  Oh and sorry to sorta hijack the thread it just seemed like an appropriate topic for this.
