heater fan qeustion
« on: December 12, 2008, 08:25:48 AM »
hey people,

my heater has 3 fan settings, off, 1 and 2 (just like everyone else's).  The fan only blows on 2 (high speed).  does not blow on 1 (slow speed).  what could be the problem?

3. BLOWER MOTOR INOPERATIVE (LO, M1 & M2 Positions)

Ignition switch in RUN, select switch in HEAT.
² Blower resistors connector (Terminal D) should be
battery voltage. If not, replace select switch.
² Blower resistors connector (Terminal C) should be
battery voltage. If not, replace blower switch.
² Blower resistors connector (Terminal A) should be
battery voltage. If not, replace blower switch.
² Blower resistors connector (Terminal B) should be
battery voltage. If not, replace blower resistor.

I don't believe the YJ's have that resister pack that the TJ's do.  You'll want to check the switch and the blower motor.

jeepforum also helped some, they said the same jeffy,

usually Resistor pack (every once in awhile, bad switch)

i got a post over there requesting for a picture of a resistor pack in a YJ.  no hits yet.  will call dealer for parts on monday.  getting colder now, cant run fan full speed all time, and it too cold to run on 0.  i like my middle option :)

PROBLEM SOLVED.  Someone finally got me a pic of where the Resistor pack is located.  right above the vent on passenger, the connector plugs in there... well i looked, and the connector was NOT plugged in :)  plugged in, and now i have my mid range fan again :) sweetness!
