Topic: another pinion seal leak

Looked under my heep and saw for the third or forth time that another pinion seal was leaking!
Every pinion seal that has leaked has been on my rear dana44 anyone know why they keep leaking?
The gears were perfessionally installed and i do not feel any play in the yoke or pinion.

How bad is it leaking?  Was the slinger installed when they put the gears in?  If it looks ok, I might jsut leave it and see if it stops on it's own.  Oil level could be high as well as it being a new seal.  Could be an imperfection in the pinion shaft but I doubt that.  Sometimes the Seals will start to leaf after a while when new, then they stop once it has a few miles on it.

Theres a steady drip and I'm pretty sure the slinger is installed . I think i'm gonna get another seal this weekend. I just can understand whats causing it to leak.
Is it possible to use a seal from a rubicon dana 44 on a sahra dana44? Thinking that the rubicon seal will be better because it has a piece of metal that covers the whole seal.

well your never gonna believe what was causeing me to eat pinion seals!
The 4" rough country lift i installed 2 1/2 years ago was the colprit. The passenger lower control arm threads where completely gone.So basicly i had three control arms holding my rear in. The broke arm was just sliding in and out like a slip yoke drive shaft.
But all is good with almost a grand worth of rubicon express control arms that are fixed lowers and adjustable uppers that have lock nuts.
I think that if the rough country arms had jam nuts the threads would have been fine.

Has anyone ever heard of this happening before?

The contral arms you had where the flex arms right that srew in and out, they should not have failed unless you screwed them out to far. Either way the Rubicon express control arms are a better bet anyways much easier on the control arm mounts. The other arms with the rigid bushings put a lot of stain on the mounts and bind under hard wheeling

friend of mine just lost both lower teraflex arms the same way,  just depends on use,  wheeling takes a toll on everything, and the cheaper the part the easier it goes,  i think you will get a lot more time out of the re stuff

Yup the Re or Currie stuff is the way to go for short TJ control arms, I prefer Currie the Johnny joints last a long time and do not shred , also excelent flex and they take a pretty darn good beating on rocks

What kind of attack angle is on your transfer case. The drive shaft might be binding when you put it under a load. Mine did that and all i have is a 2 inch lift. I bought that transfer case drop kit and it seems to work fine so far.

Tom woods shaft and I had to have it clearanced some more to get it to live, it destroyed the centring ba;; from jamming under full droop, the belly up skid has something to do with that though, its all happiness now, in your case you could get or make a 1" motormount lift will do pretty much the same thing without lowering the big shovel

who makes that engine lift? and where to buy. Does the motor mounts and tranny mount match the 6cyl. I am wondering because of the better quality ones above factory. I just replaced mine but feel them getting lose again.
