alt. wiring upgrade
« on: March 22, 2009, 06:14:43 PM »
hello, ive got an 86 xj 2.5, and am upgrading to the 2/0 cable for my batt. ground, and alt. etc... my question is that on my alt. there is a single red wire that is bolted to back of alt. and there is a connector on top of the alt. consisting of 2 wires, one is red  the other i cant remember right now. and both red wires are soldered together and hooked up to a silinoid by the batt. not sure if it is supposed to be this way, but i bet not. any way would the wire to the alternator that people upgrade be the single red one on back. if so would it sound reasonable to cut the eyelet off and tape it up, and make my 2/0 going from back of alt. to silinoid with a agu fuse in between. leaving the other red wire that goes from top of alt. to silinoid. also does anyone know what that connector on top is for? anything would help. thanks in advance.
