I have a bad feeling about this...

Well, you probably know about those lights I added to my Jeep.  Well those fancy aluminum brackets were iffy but I figured they'd last till sunner rolls around.  Well, they didn't.  I started to notice that one beam was pointed really low and off to the left.  Finally got around to taking a good look at it and the bracket was cracked 3/4's the way through.

So any way, I spent the day fabricating new brackets out of 1" angle iron.  I guess I could have used 1/4" flat but I didn't have any and didn't feel like driving.  So I had to do a lot more cutting then I would have with the flat stock.  They looks cool and don't bounce at all.  I didn't bother painting them since it's too cold.

Nice work.

I don't know if it's a Jeeper credo, but I myself have run into the 'do it once, and then do it again correctly'.

I had to put a tranny in the YJ, so I picked up a rebuilt one for fairly cheap out of of a XJ.  I was told "do it once, correctly or I'll have to do it again".  Luckily I haven't had to do it again (yet).  Guess I'm upholding the credo for the rest of us.

Oh I knew it would break after I mounted the lights and gave them a flick.  I just wanted them to last longer then a month.  I even has the steel sitting around back then.  I was goign to hold off and use flat stock though.

The new brackets are bolted on. If I had a welder I would have put some tabs on the bumper instead.  The added lights help a lot.  Basically, they are my headlights.  I can't see squat with my normal lights since they're up high and together.
