Factory replacement parts
« on: May 31, 2009, 09:35:44 PM »
I just purchased a hard top and doors for my '91. I need to replace some of the little plastic clips that hold the latch rods, outer door latch retaining clips, glass weatherstrip, etc. My questions is where do you go for things like this? Some of this is a pain to find online and I don't want to try to get down the the local dealer and mess with that hassle. If I could find the micro fiche with the parts diagrams and part numbers it would be much easier. (I am thinking of dirt bikes where its easy to find). Anyone have the same issues and any luck, or is it just more to add to my other issues? If you know of any good websites, let me know.

Thanks.

Some parts just aren't available anymore.  Those plastic clips on the rods are going to be hard to find.  You might try looking at TJ's or other cars and see if they have any.  Generally though, those parts aren't really sold as individual parts.  I don't think you'll be able to find the wedges for the door handle either.  Weatherstripping you can get at Quadratec.com or 4wd.com.  Even Ebay probably has them.

Even Home Depot sells weather strips...  I used theirs all over my Jeep to keep the rain out.

The plastic clips on the latch and lock rods are available at the dealer. Counter asked if I needed them when I replaced the lock rod in mine. The rod was only $12, so the clip can't be much.

Thanks for the info. I did find a 1070 page .pdf that is the Jeep parts catalog for the YJ and it has all the parts numbers. I will try putting together a list and call around and see what I come up with for the items I cant find though 4wd or Quad.
