« on: June 29, 2009, 04:07:39 PM »
After looking around the site i learned that the 19# injector is the on to go with for the older 2.5 but from what i reading here you guys are saying that i have a 23 lb in my 2.5 already. so would it be worth going with the 24lb or should i try and tracking down a 30lb. thanks guys any help is great.

i have read that post like 4 times and am still wondering if it would be better to use the 30 lb injectors instead of the 24lb ones.

I would go with 24Lbs.  The main reason for going with the Ford injectors is the 4 Jets (vs 1) and the additional flow rate as Jeeps run lean.  You could try 30's though.  If you get them used, then they are dirt cheap and are easy to swap in and out.

In order to make this simple what 24# injectors do you recommend?

FoMoCo Design III's from either a Cobra or a Navigator.  You can usually find low mileage take-outs from a Cobra who's upgrading fairly easy on Ebay.

Through research done on this this web site , I have gone to the Bosch/Ford Design III 24# blue injectors on my '97 TJ 2.5L , now this in addition to a bored out 4.0L TB and spacer and manifold, Airaid CAI , PD ignition coil and wide gapped plugs with 2 1/2" Magna flow stainless catback system and flexilite electric fan. This "little" 4 banger is a monster now , I run 4" of lift ( suspension only) and 33" MT Baja Claws , I Fifth gear is still my friend and I can still tow stuff, and the fuel mialage is as good or better than before, I am very happy with all these changes.

Help! I just did the fuel injector swap on my 97' TJ (brand new Jasper 2.5L) using the ford type 3 design injectors (all 4 rebuilt and matched by Mr. Injector) and also swapped on my 63 mm. Throttle body and it runs like CRAP ! It falls on it's face trying to accelerate- do I need a chip for the computer for this to work ? Any help is greatly appreciated !

did you put on the TPS and Idle valve from your old throttle body? If you did that, try to put your old injectors back and see if the problem goes away.

Yes- I swapped over everything from the old throttle body but the TPS is only 1 year old, but your right, I need to work backwards to see where the problem is. The only thing is before I had the new jasper engine I had just the oversized throttle body on and it ran great, awesome actually. But the local garage put my old throttle body back on for warranty reasons. I just double checked all connections which were OK.

sorry, missed the question about the computer - it will work, you don't need a different computer. Just thinking about it would probably be easier to start by putting the stock throttle body back and if it is still doing the same thing then move onto the injectors - then you'll have the answer.

btw, what flow are these injectors rated at (lb/hr)?

Well I contacted Mr. Injector and gave him the #'s on the stock injectors as well as the new injectors. Turns out my stock injectors are 240 cc and the new injectors were 210 cc (they are the orange type 3 design from Ford V8). So he is sending out a set of 240 cc injectors- I can't beleive what a nice guy he is and so willing to help. So I'll wait till they come in the mail to do anything more and will let you know what happens.

that explains it. Now, didn't you buy the injectors to get bigger ones? Just wondering as you mentioned he'll send you the same rating as stock.

Yes-I thought I was getting bigger injectors but this proves you have to be carefull what injectors you get-not all the Ford type 3 design are larger (mine, orange color, were smaller!!) and yes he is sending the same size as stock.

I got rebuilt stock injector's from Mr. Injector and put them in and the Jeep runs great!! I have a set of 8 24# blue type 3 design injectors out of a mustang coming and plan to install them when they come.
