Need Help With Restoration

I have a '84 CJ-7 with 150amc, t-4, hard doors, hard top, dealer installed ac (dosen't work) with 95k miles.  I bought this jeep new in 1984 for $8900 and want to bring it back to original but with a little better preformance.  Soon it will be to old in this state to require an emission test and I would like a little more power.  It gets driven about 500 miles a year these days but I want to use it more.

It has no rust and is all stock with the exception of a unity spotlight on the drivers side and a am/fm radio replaced the stock am radio some years ago.

Any suggestions?

Well, you could get a nice boost from converting it over to MPFI.  Use OEM parts and it should look clean while giving you a solid 20 more horses.

Other options would be to add something like a turbocharger and leave it carburated.

It would probably run better with an updated ignition module.  Older engines will see higher gains from these.

Gearing is a big thing with the smaller engines.  Determin the size tires you want to run and gear it accordingly.  Beaf up the stock axles or swap in some larger ones would give you more strength, too.  You'd probably have to outboard the front leafs but then you'd gain a bit more stability.
