Need some advice, Low idle and Cutting out at part throttle
« on: December 06, 2010, 12:06:14 AM »
Okay, so jsut happened one day, rolled to a stop and idle went down to liek 300 rpm's, really low. Now it will idle up a bit when first start and cold, but once warmed up, idle drops WAY DOWN, and it will cut out and sputter if part throttle.  If i'm Wide open or barely touching pedal, it's fine, but anything else and it bucks and cuts out and sputters. Any ideas?  Have O2 light, but been on since got jeep and hasn't caused issues. Thanks in adnvance for any help guys, I am at wit's end.

i would guess it's the TPS, but you should fix the O2 sensor though. you should also check the blowby fitting in the valve cover (the brass one) to make sure it's not plugged with gunk. there are other things that can cause this as well, fuel pressure is one of them, but since you said it idles fine in a certain spot would point to the TPS.

Could also be a clogged IAC valve. MIne did some weird stuff at idle, if you
can get it idling and spray some carb cleaner through the port in the throttle
body It can wash through....

I will screw with it once this snow storm passes and i can get some weather to check it.  hopefully it lasts that long. Literally when i say cutting out, i will be (jsut an example, not only time it does it) in second, going around a roundabout, then get on gas out of it and its like someone cuts the key off  then back on a couple times, not even spaced either.  I already bought an upstream o2, jsut gotta get it here, hopefully next week.

ok, this one sounds that you are way low on fuel, the Jeep does that exact thing when fuel is low and going around corners, go straight after and would run normal again. How much fuel do you have in the tank?

Full!, not it.  Okay, here's my codes i'm throwing.

11
No crank reference signal detected during engine cranking.
Intermittent loss of either camshaft or crankshaft position sensor.
CKP sensor target windows have too much variation.

12
Direct battery input to PCM was disconnected within the last 50 Key-on cycles.

21
Upstream oxygen sensor response slower than minimum required switching frequency.
Upstream oxygen sensor heating element circuit malfunction.
Downstream oxygen sensor heating element circuit malfunction.
Downstream oxygen sensor input voltage maintained above the normal operating range.
Oxygen sensor voltage too low, tested after cold start. (Upstream or Downstream)
Left oxygen sensor input voltage maintained above the normal operating temperature.

24
Throttle position sensor input above or below acceptable voltage.
TPS signal does not correlate to MAP sensor.

55
Completion of fault code display on Check Engine lamp.

so that does point towards the TPS and possibly the CPS

I would reset the codes and check them again to make sure.

Disconnect the battery and if you want ground the +12v then wait a few minutes.

Shortcut,, Disconnect the battery + only and turn the key on.... Drains it right down...
