What are you using? Likes dislikes. Silicone VS. non-silicone.

Break Free CLP.  Use it on a bunch of stuff.  It's a real lubricant unlike WD-40.  You can get it in a spray bottle or smaller bottles or even an aerosol.  It's light machine oil so it can be used as a penetrating oil as well.  It's most commonly used for firearms.  US Military buys it in 55 gallon drums.

i've used a little of everything, wd40 (works great for fishing), jb80 (basically liquid grease), royal purple max film (truly awesome stuff), pb blaster. I've also used generic parts store penitrating oil. So far though I like jb80, and max film the best.

I found silicone excellent for weather strip, plastics, o-rings, etc for lube and protection.  (C)leaner, (L)ubricant, and (P)rotectant is excellent on metal to metal.  There are no doubt better cleaners, better lubricants and better metal protectors but CLP does it all well in one product and making it easier on me keeps thing in better shape than if I used multiple products.

Best I have found and it to lubricates unlike WD40 is Kroil.  It is also one of the best penetrating oils I've found.  If you have Firearms with light surface rust it is a great cleaner/Lube.

But it is kind of spendy and you have to order it as Nobody in this area carries it.

I have a number of cans of stuff. Seems like I use whatever I grab first. I have been real happy with some chain lube (dry lube) that goes on wet but does not attract dirt/dust. I use it on the highlift since it's on the rear tire carrier. I am amazed it is pretty dust free where I sprayed it on.
Is there an advantage of the silicone added stuff? The can always says how great and long lasting it supposed to be.

I tried some silicone spray lube once and found it not to work very well, never bought it again.  Regular mineral oil actually works really well for most things.  Chain lube is awesome for dusty environments.

For a spray lube, my favorite is CRC's 2-26.  For a penetrating oil, Kroil is the best ever made, IMHO

X2 on the Kroil. We have that stuff at work (and now in my garage) it's WD-40 on steroids. Nothing Kreeps like Kroil. $20 retail for a spray can

Kroil also works as a lube and sticks around.  WD-40 dries up and is gone.

WD-40 isn't a lube.  When WD-40 dries it leaves a gummy residue when it gets old.  It then dries leaving a mess.

I've heard Mouse Milk works well too.  It's used in the Aerospace industry.
