Most likely it was his beater car and he abandoned it afterwards and had no way of retrieving it.  The Denver Colorado Trail Patrol, got wind of it and went to get it out.  They reported it and cleaned the mess it left then dragged it out.  by then it had been there for 2 weeks and had the interior stolen.
