3 stoopid questions
« on: September 03, 2011, 11:33:21 PM »
Couldn't find a stoopid question forum so I'll post them here.
'98 TJ
1) What are the two metal loops that come up through the carpet behind my back seat? They look like the loop at the top of the windshield to hold it when folded down.
2) Where can I find a replacement switch panel that goes over the ashtray? The local MOPAR parts dept won't talk to me over the phone unless I have the 'proper' name for it, and a 75mile round trip to look at pictures on their computer is a bit much.
3) Is there a way to tighten the outside rearview mirrors? Or am I looking at replacing them? The only thing I see is a nut on the bottom to fasten them to the bracket.
Thanks   Jim

1) They are there to tie down the spreader bars when they are removed.

2) Switch panel or switch bezel.  Official name, 'Accessory Switch Bezel'.  I suggest looking on ebay rather then the dealer for one.

3) Drill a small hole into the ball an insert a screw.

1) I wonder that too.  :digdeeper:

2) I believe it's called the Switch and/or Lighter Dash Bezel.

3) I believe there's a nut on the under side of the arm to tighten the arm and screws you can tighten on the housing it's self to limit the movement. Mine seem to get loose right before it fell off; cheap pot metal ball joint.
