Epic off road recovery, Eastern Europe
« on: May 21, 2012, 08:21:09 AM »
This could have ended terribly. The driver is known for taking risks. If you watch his other videos, he can be seen rocking a TJ with a 1.9l TDI motor.

Strange line to take.  I hope he doesn't end up killing himself some day with those risky lines.

Looks like he thought he could sidehill it and get around the water hole.

He should have racing harnesses in there since they don't lock up when upside down.  Or at minimum a knife.

This guy isn't new to offroading he is the one with the Jeep with the VW diesel engine in it that did the wheely thing a few years ago. He has won several big offroad competions in Eastern Europe. That video is atleast 6 months old. He didn't have to good a time at it and yes he took a funny line into that mud pit

I can't believe how laid back he was after what he went through in that pit.

3 different buggies, 2 use the same portal axles.
The tube looking buggy seems to have independent front and rear suspension.
He sure seems to love simex tires

Those tires seem pretty brutal. Are they what they call Centepede tires?

looks like they only make them skinny. There is a vast argument I've come across in the 4x4 world about the effectiveness of skinny mud tires. Folks who are for them say that the skinny tires cut down through the mud and find traction.

dunno about these ones and mud but i had a subaru in the past and had 2 sets of wheels one set was 165 and the other 205 (or something like that, same profile height on both), in the snow and 4wd (that's why i bought it for driving in the snow) the skinnier tires were way better, not even comparable - the wider ones were kinda floating and didn't feel the dig like with the narrower tires. on dry ground was the other way around.

You'll find that in most other countries, it's a lot easier to find skinny tires then fat ones.
