I know I can stop mine with my hand if I feel like it, but torque isn't really something you should need in a bench drill. Mine is a bit odd, as it is an old high speed 40's press out of a war factory with 2 speeds in the pulleys, a 2 speed gearbox and a 2 speed motor (the 2 speeds on the motor are disabled by the VFD). I can get the thing down to around 100RPM

The unit has a set of high and low speed selector push buttons and a high / low speed lever providing 8 speeds are (4500/1200, 600/1600, 9000/2400, 12000/3200 rpm). The machine is 73" tall by 21" wide by 36" deep.
Unit has a brass plate on back that reads "Defense Plant Corp. an Instructmentality of the United Sates Government."
