1990 YJ starter wire installation
« on: March 20, 2013, 08:59:43 AM »
OK folks, my google-fu sucks  :google:, my son removed the wires, and no one knows what goes where.

1990 Wrangler, 2.5 4-cyl, 5-speed.

What wires go where? Small green signal wire I got, Red 12 volt I got

Ground wire goes where???

Sorry for the mediocrity of my post.
Yes I googled. Yes I checked my Haynes.

Thanks.
I do best with pictures, but will take what I can get.

The ground wire goes to a stud on the side of the engine block.

like he ^ says there's no ground wire going to the solenoid

you have a thick +12v wire going to one of 2 prongs (with nuts) on the solenoid, then there's a wire coming out of the starter motor going to the other prong and a signal wire that goes to the solenoid (you can't miss this one, it's lot smaller than the other 2 :). The ground would go to the engine block somewhere.
