your pictures are too small to tell

Wire colors and factory service manual will help you but in the meantime i suggest going to a junkyard and get the piece of harness that burned, splice in at the point where yours is intact and should be fine - solder and shrink tubing over it will make a sounds repair with no issues in the future. As far as vacuum tubing just replace them (or whatever tubing got melted, looks like one of them is the PCV tube - the one on top of the valve cover).

If your question is if you can drive it like that, i wouldn't, you should repair whatever got damaged in the incident.

Take a look at this thread for the proper vacuum routing. note that most of the thread is talking about the yj routing which is slightly different from the xj and comanche routing but post 23 shows the xj routing which is what you need. i can try to dig up some TBI wiring diagrams tomorrow but the wire colors will likely be different

edit: forgot the link

i would just replace the burnt up hard plastic lines with standard rubber lines routed around anything thats hot as finding a factory vacuum harness will likely be nearly impossible.

no fire, the down pipe dropped off the ex mani and i'm guessing the heat over a long drive did the melting. the truck is over 200 miles away in a shop and i would like to send the guy a clear pic of a 87 tbi 2.5 so he can reference from.

chardrc is the one who's pretty knowledgeable with the TBI's.  I looked up some of his old posts.

the picture Jeffy posted of the purge solenoid is abit misleading since the line labeled as 4 should not be connected there the one labeled 3? should be there which is just a plug connected to the second line.

also since you have a Comanche your vacuum diagram is a bit different. The line your pen is pointing to on the purge solenoid should go to the EGR valve.

Where do both of the lines teed off of the line in the first picture go to? ia am assuming they go through the firewall and are used for the HVAC system. if so those lines are not shown on the vacuum diagrams so i do not know where they go. there should be an open port on the throttlebody or the intake manifold that will take that second line.

the 2 lines in pic 1 run to the canister umder the bumper for the heater flapper. but where do they connect to the tb or mani at. i can only see the 2 ports on the tb and they already have lines hooked to them. is there a 3rd port that is hidden? or do i have to tie into one of the visable 2 ports?

the Cherokees only have 2 ports on the tb and have additional ports on the manifold facing the fender. on my yj the hvac vacuum lines went to a port on the top of the intake manifold between the tb and the fire wall.

finally looked for the cherokee vacuum diagram on my photobucket acount so i could report it here rather than looking back to my old thread. unfortunately it does not show any non emission related vacuum lines.

guys, every scematic i look at is different than my truck. my truck has the front line from the vc going to the air intake and the rear line from the vc (the small hard line) running to the tb. truck is an 87 renix. did they change the 2.5 routing in later models?
also, i am trying to fine out where the line that feeds the canister under the bumper for the heater flapper conects to in or around the tb or intake manifold. the tb has 2 ports and the intake mani has only 1 which i can see.
