I'll post more pics after it's painted and the light bar is installed on it.

Sickies, that thing is a beast.  I see what you mean about putting the air mattress up their now,  those steel clamps on the side look real nice like, too.  The lightbar is gonna make that thing look mammoth

Do the plates that attach to the body go to the frame?  Have any pictures of the backside?  The rack is huge.   You could put a full mattress up there for some bear-free sleep.

The 2x4's were there to help get the gap we wanted between the rack and the roof of the hard top, not perminant.

The plates are bolted through behind the pipe, they have matching stainless plates behind them and are sealed on both sides with marine grade silicone to keep the water out.  The rear inner braces are even beafier.

It's stupid strong, but my uncle always overbuilds stuff he makes for me!

Looks very cool! Great job!
Might I say tho,
I see you used EMT conduit for the bracers holding it up....
That stuff is very week and if you bump a tree or a low branch it may end up in your hard top.
Ya might think about using IMC (heavy wall conduit) That stuff is a lot tougher and much harder to bend, and not to much heavyer for the amount you would be using (Trust me I bend it all day every day for a living) and looks eazy enough to change out.
Your giving me some ideas about making one my self

The EMT will get replaced by harder stuff later, I have the dimensions to make replacements (Bob figured I'd need too after a few trees!)  It's stupid easy to replace them too! I LOVE it!   The side mirrors do hit the uprights when you un-strap the doors and let them swing wide, but I'm getting windshield brace mounts for some new mirrors anyway. I hate the stupid door mirrors!  It's a special secret fern camo paint job my uncle puts on all of his buggies he makes... I must be pretty special to deserve that honor  !

The rack has traveled 602.4 miles on the back of the truck carrying my full sized spare and I've had tons of construction and shitty roads making for a VERY bumpy ride for the jeep and the rack.  The wiffie says it only wiggles slightly on the big bumps and it never even comes close to touching the jeep.  I like it already and I only drove 3 miles with it on!

Would you believe it,  the thing is almost TOTALLY invisible once your in the jeep! I can't see the front  poles, and the back poles are only slightly visible from the back windows!  I was hoping to have a hulking steel structure to look around to feel like I'm in a real safari jeep or something, but this is actually a bonus and a testament to my uncles designing ability!

ok, I'll post the pics of the paint job at my next stop in Minot North Dakota.
