Has anyone gone the way of getting a Jasper 2.5 crate motor with the high torque cam and other goodies

I've seen them but haven't looked into them.  Jasper makes some decent rebuilds.  You'll want to find out what kind of grind profile they used.

Thanks Jeff....
I'm just starting to research options, 148 k miles and low oil pressure. For now a can of STP and run it.
If anyone else can  jump in and and some info I would appreciate it.
Thanks

Just my 2 cents double check that oil pressure.  Sending unit could be going bad.

The original owner of my MJ put a Jasper engine and trans in the truck at 140,000 miles, mostly due to oil leaks. The Jasper unit now has 220,000 on it and still going strong. I couldnt tell you about the cam though.

Yea, I'm with the Grumpy Dude. I know too many people with 250-400,000 miles on their machines. Unless of course you bought it from a teenager that beat the krap out of it and never changed the oil.
My mechanics' shop just got done with a job; 260k on a 2.5L in a '97 TJ. He got a low-milage 4.0 out of a wreck, got the 'rotating assembly' for a 4.6 Stroker off of ebay and rebuilt the engine. He told me that was the way I should go if I ever start considering remotoring my TJ.
295 horse and 300ft/lbs of torque you're not going to get out of a 2.5, no matter whose name is on it.
Except for some stoopid stuff like fan shrouds and stuff, it was basically bolt-together.

PS  At speed my 110k 2.5L has 45 lbs at the guage and 44-45 lbs at each cylinder.

Thanks Guys,
Just ran it this past weekend on the trails at AOAA, it was a bad sensor...
The smart thing would be to build a "Stroker",but i just can't give up on a 4 banger, it goes back to when I started wheeling, the military and today.
Thanks again

Know the feeling on the 4banger that old M151 got me going too.  Although the M715 and its 6 was not bad either.
