Topic: leaf spring shims

Hi everyone. Soooo, i purchased some leaf springs from pro comp last year for my '95 yj ( extremely hard 2.5" lift) but a few days ago i noticed that the degree shims are missing the taller half. Somewhere along the way they broke in half and flew off. Pro comp being the worse customer service that they are, said "no warranty". They are aluminum so no wonder they broke. Now my question is, what degree shims to buy? 4wheelparts suggested 2° shims although the original seem to be higher than the ones i saw. Thanks.

Look for steel shims.  Though aluminum shims aren't usually a problem unless the U-bolts loosen up.

Here's what you want. steel shims like he ^ said, angle is based on your lift and if you have an SYE or not. I suggest measuring the angle you need if you can.

Hi guys, thanks for the info and for taking the time to answer. So the degree is according to the lift height? And yes, steel shims are what im looking for my procrap springs came with aluminum but the shims or whats left of them are higher than the 2 degree and might be 4

the shims are according to your pinion angle: if you don't have an SYE that is in relation to the t-case output shaft angle (the shafts on both should be parallel)  - it also depends if you have a t-case drop or not
if you do have SYE your pinion shaft should be in line with your driveshaft.

these angles are changing if you add a lift so the shims are meant to compensate for that.

Yeah, Pro-Comp doesn't make 2* shims.  They probably did include 4* shims.  But like Sharp said, set your pinion angle to the driveshaft angle.
