4Wheel & Sport Utility's Project Real Steel was/is for sale
« on: March 21, 2015, 04:19:00 PM »
One of the more recent builds Phil Howell did for the magazine.  Love just about everything on the build especially since it was once a 4banger.  I think I'd probably swap to the new BFG KO2's in 34x10.5R17's and stick with the pie cutter look though.

I am selling this awesome built Jeep YJ that was a build Feature in several Magazines.

$24k

It was a ground up restoration with a Motech GM LS Gen IV all Aluminum LH6 5.3V8 320HP 340TQ & 6L80E 6spd Auto - that used a hard to find, straight, rust free 89 Jeep YJ.  It has almost $49,000 in parts alone that have been put into it!  The entire Drivetrain is all brand spanking new with only 480 miles ont !  Paint and body are original and in great shape.

It is fully street legal with working Heat, AC, Cruise control and GM's tap shift to select and hold any of the 6 gears!

Here's a list of the parts used on this build:

1989 Jeep YJ Wrangler with PS, PB, AC, GM Cruise, half doors, soft top

-      Currie Enterprises High Pinion 9” front and rearends with Yukon Grizzly Lockers, 4.86 Yukon gears: $10,500.00

That price doesn’t include the value of the YJ itself. Clean title in hand.

I know everyone's thinking where are the 1-tons, coilovers, 40's and etc, but this Jeep was never ment to be that.  It was meant to be a classic Jeep that drives perfect like a NEW modern vehicle that's not underpowered, yet still plenty capable to go on 4+ trail if needed.

It really does drive super nice - kind of feels just like a new GMC Sierra in how refined the powertrain is.
