Lower Gears for Jeep Wrangler YJ, TJ & Cherokee
« on: April 17, 2015, 06:14:11 PM »
If you've ever driven a Jeep Wrangler YJ, TJ or a Cherokee XJ on anything larger than a 33-inch tire with stock gearing, you’re probably well versed in the art of getting passed on the highway while trying to maintain speed. Swapping in a lower gear set would help get back some of that lost power but unfortunately, it had its limits since ratios were not low enough in some cases and swapping to bigger axles would only ramp up the price of getting back some of that cruising power.

It seems that Revolution Gear and Axle saw a void in the ring and pinion world for Jeeps and decided to go after it. Have you ever heard of 5.38 gears for a TJ Rubicon? How about 5.13 gears for YJs, XJs and TJs? That kind of stuff is unheard of but Revolution Gear and Axle has done their homework and is now offering just that!

If you have a Jeep Wrangler TJ Rubicon on 37’s or taller and can’t get off the line? Revolution Gear and Axle is now the only company to offer a 5.38 gear set for TJ Rubicons. This means you can conceivable run 40-inch rubber without holding up traffic while trying to merge onto a busy highway.

The 5.13 gear sets are for Jeep Wrangler YJ and TJ as well as the Cherokee XJ Dana 30 and Dana 35 axles. This was achieved by changing the tooth count on the ring gear so the size of the pinion head did not have to be sacrificed. This used to be the big obstacle in lower gearing for the stock axles but where there’s a will, there’s a way and Revolution Gear and Axle seems to have hit the nail on the head with this one.

Part numbers available
D35-513: Dana 35 - 5.13 Ratio
D30S-513TJ: Dana 30 TJ, LJ & WJ - 5.13 Ratio
D30-513R: Dana 30 Reverse YJ & XJ - 5.13 Ratio
D44-538TD: Dana 44 Thick Dual Drilled TJ & LJ Rubicon - 5.38 Ratio

I agree...  but if I can live with 33's on 4.88,  I could live with 35's and 5.13's...
