Most of the Ford high-pinion 44s have 2 3/4" tubes with 1/2" wall thickness. There are some that have 3/8" wall thickness and a few that have 3" tubes. Clearly much beefier than the modern 44s. I have one out of a 1976 F150 and it's pretty heavy.
