I plan on relocating my oil filter.  Anybody else already done this and like the kit they have?  Just trying to get specifics and actual part numbers :)

Thanks!

www.summitracing.com

used their kits on a few vehicles but i really don't know why you'd want to relocate it on a jeep... especially if you have the 2.5 since its so easy to get to..

There are a bunch of universal kits out there.  I know a few people who use them.  The 2.5L's location isn't that bad but with a remote unit, you could run a cooler and have the filter someplace where it can be removed without spilling oil onto the starter.     I'd also suggest running a larger filter then the PH16.

I didnt mind spilling a couple drops when I had an appartment but with what I spent on my house, I think I'd rather relocate the filter and keep the wife off my butt.  I may even mount it inverted so leaking isnt an option again.

The problem with Summit racing is I cant figure out if their kits fit or dont.  Maybe I should call them...

cardboard man...  :D  or change the oil in the grass like me.  honestly, if that's the whole reason you are wanting the reloaction kit.... i wouldn't.

when i get a little oil on the driveway i roll out my 12hp commercial duty pressure washer and blast it to smitherines!

Good ideas but I definately spend too much effort on my yard to kill it with some oil!  I also have the added benefit of working night shift ie. 6PM to 6AM so I am 1000 times more likely to change my oil at 2or 3AM on a night I am off than at noon on any day of the week.  With the added bonus of 2 children under the age of 16months, I dont get a very big surplus of time to do any amount of prework/post cleanup.  Top all of that off with 8 credits of school each semister and I am down to about 30 seconds per week to work on the Jeep.

For the final straw, when my wife and I met, we both had Wranglers, I the mighty 6cyl-manual, she the 4cyl-auto (I didnt even know they made a 4cyl auto!).  My dumb arse traded in mine for the Maza sport wagon that she always drives and I am left with the 4 poper, since I do not have the equipment or time (much less being without the Jeep) available for a engine swap, Im prepping her for some form of forced induction, until then, I want a relocated oil filter!

Thanks all for the help :)
