Exhaust questions/help
« on: May 18, 2006, 12:57:56 PM »
I'm currently having some flow issues, and would like to begin to take care of it. I'm probally going to be doing a custom job myself, however I need help picking out a muffler. Basically this is what i don't want:

1. To sound like rice
2. Sound like "***"
3. See 1, then 2.

What are you guys running? Any suggestions? I would like something that is free flowing and sounds halfway decent. TIA for your help!

Me, I'm thinking about trying these mufflers I heard about that are supposedly in use in Oakland, Ca.   Exhaust blows through the thing and it sounds a loud musical note or something -- no kidding about this either.

The "what muffler?" post seems to come up, in one form or another, like once a week here  :)   Will save you the trouble of searching (although you'd probably get a better view of opinions if you did) --

A lot of people here seem to go with Banks, Borla or Gibson mufflers or cat-backs, if they want after-market.  Heard Gibson is probably quietest, Borla pricey (heck, they all are) and a little louder, Banks...dunno.  Think all are stainless steel.  Borla at least doesn't sound like one of those "Big-Mouth"- on-a-Civic deals...just sounds like an AMC 4 that breathes a little better.

Hey guys im running a super 40 series two chamber flowmaster on a 05' 2.4l. and its great, doesnt sound like a wang wang, its pretty damn low sounding for a 4 banger, gave the motor more torque better gas milege ( if you keep your foot out of it) and it was about 80 bucks, comes with a limetime warranty and comes with a pack of cool stickers ( im a sticker slut). seriously though a flow(flowmaster) is the way to go!!! :D
