I read that the 87-90 (I think) has a different type of fuel injection than later models which seems to SEVERELY limit upgrade possibilities.  Given that I have an 88 with 49K miles CAN I upgrade the fuel injection using my same motor??  Arent' the newer systems simpler (less vacuum lines, etc.)??  What do I need to scavenge from a newer motor to make it all work??  How different is the wiring of everything??  HELP!!  

What about going to a carburetor option (don't seem to see ANYTHING about that idea on the forum)??

I know from experience on other vehicles that a K&N filter, bigger throttle body, and exhaust system can REALLY add "life" :)  to a motor.

I'm not ready to completely throw in the towel on what I have.  Thanx!

first off going to a cvaarb would lose power and isnt leagel in most states..

also to upgrade i believe you can use the smae block and get the newer ecu adn wireing harness in such and make it work.... someone on the forums here has done it.. i forgot who but he should find this thread eventualy.... heads uip it sounds like alot of work for a few more horses..

Thottle body injection has advantages over carbs especially when doing steep climbs or bouncing, it will work sideways or even upside down. The drawback to pre 91 is there are fewer performance parts available from after market vendors but, TB injection is a very simple and reliable system which does increase the power some over the carb delivery system of equivalant bore. There is plenty of performance to be had from your engine but not so much the quick bolt-on stuff. Ask Jeffy's advice and do more research. Remember you can also change your gearing to better utilize the power!
