Oil pressure gauge out of commission
« on: September 05, 2006, 11:59:11 PM »
I recently had the oil pressure gauge stop reading anything.  Where would one look first for the source of this problem?  The engine is running fine but the gauge has flat lined.  I see that NAPA sells a "oil pressure gauge switch".  Is this the usual source of this kind of problem or should I look elsewhere?
I would usually break out the shop manual and start troubleshooting, but am currently on a ship at sea and don't have that to work from and would like to get a jump on this when I get back into port.  Thanks in advance for the help (again!)

The oil pressure sending unit is on the rear of teh engine near #4 up top.  It should have one wire going to it.
