Thats what i woulda figured with the jeep wrangler guys, yeah my chassis isnt a jeep, but its the same AMC Engine, i about got into it with the manager of Autozone, telling me that the dodge 2.5 is and is not the same as the jeep 2.5 i was like "rip em both apart, theyre the exact same thing" he once again claimed i was incorrect... i was about to say "You know all this, yet your only an AZ manager??"

im going to snap some pics of my truck here today, i may also be swapping the head if it warms up enough, its been down to the 30s/40s here in Florida and i am not fond of the cold weather AT ALL, so i will wait. by saturday we will be up to 90 degrees again

why the golf cart wheels in the back? (cheap re-gear?)

Uhmmm i guess you could call it that... LOL

I had 4 small tires all the way around, and in less than 2000 miles i chewed up the front two, then a friend threw me a set of the front rims/tires for Free, so i threw all 4 on my truck, then one tire almost fell apart on me, so i didnt wanna run 3 of 1 size and 1 of another size

with 1998 original worn front end bushing, changing the tire size, which was like adding TOO much camber, which i assume is only due to the worn rubbers, because ive seen dakotas on 195s before, PLUS, running the 2.5 with the smaller tires gives it a bit more pep being that the truck weighs like 3300lbs

Put two of these trucks side by side with the different tire sizes and you'll understand, if i had 4wd, it wouldnt be low, it would be jacked up

The PO before the guy i bought it from was a Rican, Hence the exhaust pipe and Red A/C vents n rear view mirror, LOL

Hello!

Thanks for letting me join and for all the excellent info for our beloved/hated AMC 4 cylinders.

I have had my 1992 YJ since I turned 16 in 1999. It was my DD all the way up until 3 years ago and my engine has never skipped a beat! it is now just a toy and I am contemplating a mild turbo build.
Current running gear:
Stock 2.5L, NV4500 5 speed, np231 w/ aa SYE, Tom woods driveshafts front and rear, Aussie locker front D30, Detroit rear D35, 33x12.50x15 MT baja claws. thats most of the major mods

Most recent pic:

I am very interested in a turbo build.. I was planning a 5.3L swap but that just seemed to plain Jane to me.
My hopes are just to get my YJ enough power to easily drive on the Interstate  (at)  75mph with some passing power.

edit: and big thanks to Jeff Y for getting me an invite almost immediately after I asked on FB

I have been pulling my little back bay boat with my 86 bmw that is my pride and joy. started looking around for a little pick up to use for the boat instead of putting the wear and tare on the car. spotted this one that I fell instantly in love with. an 87 Comanche 2.5 with an Aw4. it's a larado so the interior is pretty sweet. she's got 167,000 on the clock and runs like a charm. a few things needed taken care of, exhaust, motor mounts, tune up. man I love this rig. i'll post up some pics later. thanks for accepting me into your inter sanctum.

Howdy, My names Tyler and im 18. Just graduated highschool last year and about to start a job at an oil change shop. Previously worked in property maintence and starting school for automotive at community college next year. Bought my 94 yj last year right before i graduated highschool. Its been through a trip to silverlake and quite a few backwoods trips. 2.5l 4 banger auto all stock with 30" bfgr a/t's on some cheap alloy rims. Was running a hardtop but due to some crappy current events im running doorless with the soft top. Right after highschool I installed a 3" body lift that im regretting about to switch out to a 1" poly BL with a 2" suspension lift. Love my jeep and love working on it. Pleasure to be here with you all.  8)

Hi, I'm Paul.

I wheel a 1984 Cherokee, when it's not being worked on.  Had it for about 6 years now.  It is strictly a wheelin' rig, currently being heavily modified beyond belief.

Hello all. I'm 58, live in northeastern Ohio, I work at 4WD Hardware. I've been working on my own vehicles since I was 12 (mini bike). I'm in the process of buying a 1994 Wrangler 2.5 AX5 and this forum looks like a gold mine of tech info. Thanks to Jeffy for letting me in. I'll try to be useful to offset the multitude of noob questions I'm bound to be asking later on.

Hey, I'm Sabrina, from Portland, OR.

Found this site while webcrawling for info on my "new" Cherokee.  I've got an '86 TBI 2.5l with 5 speed.  Just over 202k on it, runs really strong, gets about 17-18mpg. Eventually to be my DD/ Zombie Apocalypse Rig. :)
