Hi all. I've owned my 95 YJ now for about 3 years. I stole it from my old boss who sold it when he bought a mustang. Seriously, he practically gave it to me! Being recently divorced, I didn't have the money to do much, so I added a new soft top first. Then the clutch went out. So I pulled the 2.5 and with the help of my neighbor, completely rebuilt it. After that, I started adding components a piece at a time. Highrock rear bumper, Bestop neoprene seats all around, new pioneer head unit, set of 31" tire on aluminum rims, bushwahcker fender flares, a lot of Kentrol black stainless components to dress things up. And most recently, a set of white face gages. Next on the menu is a bedliner interior, a lift kit, hopefully a slip yoke kit, front bumper, some better gearing for the larger tires, and a winch. I haven't had her off road yet, but hope to start at some point. I love my jeep and plan to die with it in the garage. It's great to find a group, especially 4 bangers. I've thought seriously about swapping motors, but options are expensive and with kids in college, that's just not in the cards.

Hi everyone,
I'm Kevin from California.
I am definitely new to the off-road scene, but I have always been interested in doing it.
I just bought a 2000 TJ 2.5L which is totally stock. I also have a 2001 Chevy 2500HD 4wd which I use to haul a camper and a boat trailer. The other thing you should know about me is I can't leave anything alone. Thanks for bearing with me ahead of time when I start asking a lot of question.

Hi All,

I'm Scott, 54, and I live in central Maine.  I've had a few Jeeps over the years, a CJ2A, Commando rag top, and Cherokee.  Now I have a 95 Wrangler 2.5/5spd/4:10 with a Myers/Fisher snow plow, and a 92 Wrangler project (bad frame) 4.0/5spd/3:73.  Actually, I think of both of them as projects.

I can't say that I'm an avid off roader at all, I just like driving my Wrangler and enjoy working on it to improve it.  I've been lurking here for awhile, and must have read nearly all of the threads.  I have gained some great ideas here and have acted on a few (thanks to you all, you rock, no pun intended!).  Looking forward to more.

Scott

Hi all,

Name is Kyle, joined a couple weeks ago just hadn't gotten around to posting an intro. Currently in Kelowna, BC Canada, moving back home to San Diego end of this month. Girlfriend bought her dream vehicle, a CJ-7, about a month or so ago been fixing the previous owner's screwups and or neglect every weekend since . Its a 1984 CJ-7 with the 2.5l amc I4, t5 tranny, has a new aluminum tub, frame is perfect. Apparently spent its life up until about 3yrs ago moving boats around. Now that the choke is working and the idle has been brought down to a reasonable speed its running pretty well. Then had the joy of having it crap out in a small town not far from my GF's parents due to a crusty old wire snapping off the coil, so spent the following day redoing the connections to the coil. Amazingly we have gotten all the gauges to work , among other electrical gremlins tracked down and eliminated, still needs a new dimmer, fun using a flash light to look at the gauges at night the first weekend with it, with a deft touch can get them to illuminate now. Engine was dripping oil like crazy so cleaned up the block to try and track down the leak only to find to my amazement that most of the oil was 24yrs of grease and grime coming of the block when it got hot . Have since found that the fuel pump appears to be leaking some oil so will be replacing it this weekend along with resolding the radiator since whoever rebuilt it did a horrible job and it spits coolant. Suppose this is the point of owning an older jeep, you always have something to do .  Was initially thinking of doing an engine swap as soon as possible but the little 4banger has grown on me, always had a thing for not following the crowd and seems that there is very little love for this good engine, so of course that makes me want to keep it more . Now I am contemplating a turbo, although not sure if I want the challenge of keeping it carbed with the turbo or switching to fuel injection. Not finding much in the way of info for converting to fuel injection other than swapping over an obdI or II motor from a new vehicle.

sorry for the long winded post heres a pic of our new to us jeep:

Welcome, nice rig. My dimmer was finicky too until I did the LED's in the dash so I never replaced it.

Hey guys, I finally found a forum that is dedicated to four cylinder Jeeps!

Anyway, I bought my Jeep in 2003, it was a 94, manual trans and had about 42k miles on it and was only 1200 bucks!  :naughty:  It was something I couldn't pass up, I had always loved jeeps, what did it was my dads cinnamon brown 2.5 '87 yj I used to call it the beep ride when I was 3 lol.

The YJ was my first car as a new driver, I was 17 at the time, it was bone stock, with dried up 30in. bf goodrich a/ts.  Throughout the years I had a 3.5in BDS with 31's, that only lasted about 1.5 years, when I went SOA, with cage and 8.8 swap with an aussie locker, 4.88's and 35" MT/Rs

I love the underpowered thing. The power adders that I have are Banks Header, 4.0 throttle body, Rock-it city intake, full exhaust (TJ routing, hi-flow cat, and flowmaster 44 series muffler.)

Its my full size toy now, I just bought a nissan 240sx for a fun commuter/ track car.   Here is some pics hope they work:

These are the old rims I had on them, about 4.5in of backspacing, the ones I have now are 2.5, no rubbing!

Anybody know where I can get a new soft top? haha my old one decided to explode on the freeway, its getting cold and starting to rain.

Welcome.

I quite like the stance it has with 4.5" backspacing...

Just joined.  My name is Jason and I am from Southwest Missouri.  I have a 95 Wrangler 4cyl 5 speed all stock, except for the 31's.  I will be putting money into it as soon as I get it.  Until then I enjoy the easy trails so I don't break anything too bad.  This is my first Jeep and I hope to soak up all the helpful information more expirienced Jeepers can give. :thumb:

Watch the flares on the trails; my '94 came with 31's as well (no lift) and they would rub even on pavement!

Hey all,  I'm Lonnie from Arkansas.  I have a wife and two kids.  I just picked up a 94 YJ 4 banger. Despite all the warnings on other Jeep sites, I have voluntarily immersed myself into the Jeep addiction. This is my first Jeep but not my first 4-wheelin experience. Actually used to do some 2-wheelin until I took on the name treeslam in a painful and expensive way. Anyway, My current Daily is an 07 Nissan Frontier 4x4. I plan to upgrade the YJ and make it  my Daily eventually. It is mostly stock, however I am at the forum to find out the best options for Mods. Immediate plans include plugs, wires, rotor, cap, battery, fuel filter and a stereo that works. Future plans include bumpers, winch, tires and rhino liner. Anyway, I have already enjoyed reading all the post saving me a lot of time, trial, error and $.
