I added one and with the stock tb and auto, I found that there wasn't much changed in city driving. On the highway, I had no passing gear but with a tailwind down hill foot to the floor. Now there is a little more rpm when it kicks out of tc lock at 70 mph to near 3400rpms. Even more if you manually shift to 2nd.
Only thing now is that when shifting from 2nd to 3rd, the tranny itself will go to neutral then to 3rd. Only thing changed was the height of the tb.

I do have a 4.0l tb that I'm cleaning, man this thing was dirty. Once its done, I'll be installing this also and using the 2.5l sensors. What I'm afraid of is I had to cut 1 sensor off the tb. I had broken 2 torx tips. Loctited it was.

Tried that with a plumber's torch but that didn't work. I tried to grind in edges on the top of the bolt head and that didn't work. So, I wasn't going to use the sensor anyways, it being plastic, just cut the head off the bolt with some of the sensor housing. Then took 2 nuts and screwed them on, still wasn't easy, but it finally came out. Throw it all away. That was about a month ago. I should get back to it soon enough, sometime, ...no, really.

Hmm the locktite on the TB I got was so old and dried it just popped off. I used a torx on a screwdriver so it wouldn't slip and apply too much pressures that it broke.  These are the small tamper-proof torx on the AIS housing.  My 4.0L TB didn't come with any sensors or the 4.0L AIS housing so I had to transfer mine.  I know you don't want to mix and match the sensors with the housings but you might try keeping the 4.0L housing and AIS motor.  I would think if they're a matched pair, there shouldn't be any problems.  The only consideration then is that the 4.0L AIS housing has a tab on the bottom that will prevent the TB from seating properly.  At least this is what I've heard. Also the TPS can be reused off of the 4.0L since it should be the same.

As for requiring a 4.0L TB with the spacer; you'll still notice a difference without one.  For some reason I get a lot of email with people asking if they have to get a TBS when converting to a 4.0L TB, like it acts like an adapter plate or something.  In any case, the TBS seems to work better with the 4.0L Conversion.
