Stupid rear most exaust stud...
« on: November 13, 2006, 09:14:59 PM »
Well the rear most exhaust stud on my 2.5L broke inside the head... so i guess i'm going to be rebuilding my spare head instead of pulling off my current head to remove the stud. Therefore, i'm going to be doing a full rebuild along with a mild port job and then take it somewhere for a basic valve-job. So yet another delay in my efforts to boost the bastard   . My question is... where is the best place to buy rebuild parts for the head? I'm planning to tackle this after i complete the transmission/transfercase replacements i'm doing.

I know this is too late for ya... but I was always told to heat up stuck exhaust suds till they are red hot - then quench them with water to break 'em loose.

For parts -
I'm a Summit fan. BTW - If you get there credit card and spend $500 you get 360 days to pay it off interest free.

How much did yours leak when you attempted to replace it?  Mine makes noise when the engine is started but in 2-3 minutes the noise stops and I can no longer feel the air leaking under the hood.  Any idea how long it will be until the leak gets worse?

I didn't hear a leak at all, and visually there is only minor sud on around that part of the gasket... But once i turbo it, that leak will most likely get worse and slow down my spool-time. I'm not sure how long till the leak beings to worsen, it may not.

I'll try summit and jegs, thanks for the info on the credit card thing too.  :)
