Was looking at the Crutchfield site and the Bazooka Subs.  I wasn't really planning to go cheap on a Sub, but these low-priced Bazookas are apparently fairly small versus others.  They are also reviewed as providing decent bass - more than you'd expect given their size.  Any of you using them?
Walmart has an 8inch sub for $99. The box I got for $50 is even smaller.
I forgot to mention that the 8inch tube is a bazooka tube.

Jesse-James,  I was looking at the VDP setup.  Its bouncing sound in to the floor, right? (it looks like it has rubber footpads; so, if those are face down to support weight, the speaker will be face-down too, right).  Does look like a pretty sweat setup.

I just bought one of those Bestop trunks.  I may send it back and get your setup - the VDP gear + the top cover.  Or I might just keep the Bestop trunk and just put a powered 8" bazooka (don't think they make the marine versions 'powered,' unfortunately) in there and see if that rounds things out

Me, I'm kind of looking for strong bass + security + no change to my center console - both of the above seem to offer this at various prices.

Edit: They do actually make the Marine Bazooka in powered versions; but these get pricey - an eight inch powered Bazooka Marine runs around $400.

Yes, it's a down firing enclosure. That's the best way to go in a convertible. this spring i will be using dynomat on the interior and going over that with bedliner. That should help too.

8" Marine 100w
10" Marine 100w
8" Marine 200w

I tested a Passive 6.5" and a 8" Bazooka and they both sounded alright in the parking lot.  If you have an amp already set up you can usually have a sales person walk one to your vehicle to test it.

I've had a few subs in my jeep used to have a real nice 12" infinity kappa perfect powered by a kicker amp zr240 i think but it got stolen then i got a 10 inch kicker comp vr and some mtx thunder amp, but the amp got fried when my old man got my jeep stuck in the lake.

My advice is a 6x9 soundbar with some good 3 way speakers i've have mine in for a while now and it gets super lound and great sound and bass, good locations for the speakers too as they are safer up their and not likely to get stolen.  Problem is the 6x9 soundbar is difficult to find now for some reason

i guess they used to be available form a company called edgeauto  anyways i highly reccomend the soundbar

I know the Kappa Perfect series is pretty great. That's a tough break.  Yeah, I could see doing a soundbar - thieves can't tell what speakers you are running in it and the bar itself isn't that saleable unless they try to move it on Ebay/Craigslist...then you are like "hey that's my soundbar," then to seller, "where are you at?" and then,"I am actually pretty close to there, could I just pick it up from you?"
