Fuel System questions... fuel cell install. need pump
« on: November 26, 2006, 07:32:36 PM »
does anyone know what the fuel pressure in the stock 89 2.5 Throttle Body Injected's fuel system is?

I know the engine requires about 14 psi.... but IF you had a pressure gauge on the fuel line what woudl it read? 20ish? 30ish? etc...

the multiport engines require about 40 psi of fuel pressure and when testing a fuel system on one of those with a gauge i heard it will read near 90 psi??

long story short, i need a pump for my fuel cell and i want to make sure the 18 psi carter i'm planning to get will be enough.

plan to use this on my 1989 TBI 2.5 with my fuel cell... will have it mounted under jeep to help with flow.

to be honest with you i dont know what to tell you. i just use in tank pumps cuz they are better. they run cooler and are quieter. try posting this question here http://www.hesco.us/forum/ if anyone knows your answer some one here will. good luck

might be more quiet but i'll never hear it over my exhaust or 40" boggers so i don't care about noise....

and whether it runs a little hotter or cooler than an intake doesn't really bother me since they last just as long.

i do appreciate your link though... never been on that forum and i'll surely check it out.

i'll be sure to post up my results so hopefully future 4 banger owners can learn from my experience.

I did order that pump today though... if it works it works.. if it doesn't at least i'll know why.
