mods move redline up ?

Does adding a header, tbs, intake, flowmaster raise the redline on the rpms higher? If so, is the horsepower and torque peaking at a higher rpm as well? I rarely go above 4,000 rpm's unless by accident, but I feel take offs are hindered some since the header was installed. It feels like a loss of power, or maybe it is the new 30"s I got on it with my 4:10 gears.

External mods will not change the redline.  The only way you can change the redline is if you blue print the engine and then dyno it.

Otherwise, all you're doing is moving the powerband around.  You can't really just bolt on parts and expect them to work in conjunction with each other either.  Some mods will move the powerband up while others may move it down.  Depending on what modes you do they could cancel out each other to some extent.

My jeep will normally hit 4000 rpm a few times on any given drive.  Once in a while it may go up to 5000rpm.  YMMV.

Honestly though if you moved up to 30's, you shouldn't be hurting for poser.

Good answer. To dyno the vehicle is to give me the answer.
I have never dyno'd besides a smog check on my old Taurus. I am curious enough to spend the money on it though.

Like I said, unless you've done a lot of internal changes it's probably not worth it to dyno.  Although if you really want ed to dyno it it won't be cheap.  Looking for a club dyno day would make it cheaper though.

I understood what you wrote  :) . My external mods claim to give me: 6hp for rock it intake, 7 hp for flowmaster muffler, 15-20 for banks torque tube header, 1-7 hp for a throttle body spacer- so all together the dyno should read 125 hp stock plus 30-33 added hp should= around 155-165 hp with a tune up. If I had the chip it would bring me close to 180 hp 10-15 hp shy of the 4.0 ?

I'd say your numbers are probably a bit optimistic at best.

just getting a run on a dyno is not too expensive, its when you want tuning done, thats when it gets really expensive. local dyno days do provide better deals though. You definately didn't get that much horsepower though form those mods, especially not whp. One day (this keeps seeming further and further away) before i boost my jeep i'm going to do a baseline dyno run to do a comparison of before and after.

I think I remember some quoted me $75.00-100.00. I have better things to do with my money , but before I move on I want to know how much hp I got. I knew rear wheel horsepower is different than motor horsepower, someone all ready told me the bad news my Jeep only had about 100 hp on the ground  :( . But for peace of mind , I want to know what I accomplished. Dyno day would be the best thing for a group, yeah.

75-100 for a dyno pull is outrageous. thats the lower end of hourly rates
