Topic: Any one ever heard of this?

I have a 92 Wrangler with MPI.  I emailed Clifford performance to see if they could put a kit together for me.   The guy emailed me back and said that he had a Redline throttle body fuel injection, Intake, cam and header combination that would put me over 185 hp and maybe over 210 hp tuned correctly.  I don't know a whole lot about the programming part but it seems kinda strange to change from MPI to TBI.  What do you guys think?

I think the stock 2.5l only makes about 120hp/145torque. So by adding all this and go up 50% WOW that's a big difference for sure. Then again, what is the longevity of such a motor?

The HP sounds good with out alot of internal work on the engine (beside the cam) It just seems to me that Multi port injection would be more efficient than throttle body injection.  The kit changes my motor from MPI to TBI.  Thats the reason why I am not sure about it.  I have not gotten all the details and pricing.  I need to find out if the system will work with the headers I already have.  Will post the price as soon as I get it.

yes i talked to them about the kit when i built my motor and the reason they changed everything to tbi is it is more simple to tune and the tuning is the key to power with any fuel injected motor.  the kit is pricey at about $2k though.  as for a 4.0 liter,  the conversion is out of some people's league and you can spend a hell of  a lot more swqpping motors than tuning your own.  plus swapping motors you are getting another used motor that may be worse than yours and then you have rebuilt or long block costs.  it's all in what you want.  i am happy with my build on my 2.5 and it has more power than stock to modestly modified 4.0 liters and it cost me less than the conversion would have.  plus i have a powerful 2.5 not a 4.0 like everybody else so it is just something different if no less.  don't get me wrong i love the 4.0 i have them in all my other jeeps but for my yj i love my 4banger.

I am pulling the 2.5 for a rebuild this weekend.  I don't want to swap in a 4.0.  I was actually checking if they could throw together a cam with springs and lifters or if they could get the pistons if I had the block bored.  I want to do all the internals right now and peprhaps later if I still need more power I could look into the TBI swap or a supercharger if it is not too much for the engine at that point.  Any recommendations for the engine internals?

forged if you plan on FI otherwise you're most likely pissing your money away. That TBI kit is obviously a large overstatement on potential HP numbers, so i definately wouldn't believe their claims of achieving those numbers. If you can find forged internals post up links please, i would like to get some down the road, and would prefer some off the shelf products over spending the time/money to have them custom made.
