For sure, I have heard mixed opinions but I beleive after all I have read that if I stay off of rocks where I can get into a dangerous bind I should be fine with my 31's.

Ask the GLJT prez about that.... that's what he said.... first trip out on something easy.... SNAP! If you do it, do your self a HUGE favor and bring an extra axle. you will thank your self later! What kind of locker are you looking to put in, I am saving up for an axle swap with a locker in it my self, I haven't made up my mind yet on what one I want tho.

I am thinking just a lunchbox style locker, maybe a dana 44 or an 8.8 later on when I get 33's.

I would do yourself a favor and throw a locker in the front and wait on the axle swap to do the rear. Even if you get lucky and don't have a problem with the D35 at least doing the front will save a few bucks in the long run (assuming you keep your D30). I would also get yourself a full size spare.
