Glad your OK.  Here's probably what I'd do.  Take it to the Dealer and get an estimate.  They will give you a high estimate.  Then take that to your insurance and most likely they will pay that.  Makes sure you cover everything.  Did you hit a curb?    A shimmy will usually mean, driveshaft axles or wheels and or tires.  Did you loose any wheel weights in the accident?

Once the Insurance Ok's the estimate, you have two choices, get it done and have the Insurance pay the shop or you can have them pay out directly to you.  Depending on how bad the rocker is you might want them to fix that.  Then you can source your own door (probably half the estimate price for an OEM).  Install it your self and if you really wanted to, get it painted to match.  Even if it matches in color, you will need to have the door adjusted which usually means loosening the hinges on the door. This exposes bare metal since the doors are painted after they are fitted.

Then I'd invest in some decent rocker guards.  (This probably won't totally protect you from more damage there though.  I've seen rocker guards twist causes the body seems to split on a TJ before.)  The cheap way would be to hammer out the dents yourself, but that's a lot of work.  It looks like the rocker is pinched in at the bottom and the door opening might be a bit warped.  Did the guy hit your rear axle?  It looks like the front right side of the Ford hit your door on the edge.

Chad I am also glad you are okay.  Make sure you take care of the medical stuff first.  Then build the freedom machine up and make us proud.

Glad you are okay!  Looks like the door will definatly be replaced.  The rocker area should be prepulled to get it back were it is supposed to be, once it is set up on the rack it can be pulled.  Then the shop can do a few things, they can replace the whole uniside, if thats what the insurance wants done, or they can buy the whole side and then section in the rocker area. The frame should be measured to make sure that it didnt bow the rail on that side, looks like there might be some inner structure damage as well, ascessing damage to a vehicle just by looking at pictures can be very misleading, but thats my 2 cents.
sucks that it happened, but the good thing is that you are okay.  How did the ford hold up?

Well I went to get some estimates today 4200 from the dealer's autobody shop.  Not sure what i am gonna do yet the other place said they would help me out a bit but didn't give me a number that place works directly with my insurance company.  I am still waiting to see who they say is at fault with the accident.  I mean it was me who lost control but the truck who following too close and hit me so i am not sure who they will say is at fault

In regards to the question about the damage on the truck.  It was a 96 F150 and it me with the front right of its bumper, the bumper and grill got pretty mangled as well as the front right quarter panel.  What made me happy was once i got pulled out of the ditch, (by a nice minnesotan who was just driving around pulling people out of ditches cuz he can) my jeep was still driveable and the f150's bumper was rubbing up against his front right tire pretty severely

I wouldn't go to a shop associated with the insurance.  They will probably try to cut some corners to save you money but if the insurance is paying for it you will be better off getting it done by the Dealer.  The shop might get seconds or inferior panels and then get a salvage door.  You'd be better off with the higher estimate and pocket the extra coin.  They aren't doing you any favors.

You cant surrender!?  You gotta roll around in the bad karma and get covered in it.  If your Jeep is dented bad, this is the opportunity to get out and dent it some more

Probably in 40 years you'll be able to relinquish control of your Jeep to a State DOT/Garmin join venture service that will remotely drive your Jeep for you to a destination and insure adequate following distances between vehicles in bad weather.  Until then, you gotta deal with the T-Bone Von Brauns (rocket scientists) out there

Wow that sucks, glad you're ok and didn't get rolled. i did a slide on the 8 freeway a couple of weeks ago, got hit by a wind gust so strong it spun me and the Jeep behind me around, on dry pavement  no less and I was only doing about 40.

So about the wreck... sue the fool, get a gob of money and do the AEV Brute conversion with a Viper engine, now that would be cool

atleast in CA you wouldn't be at fault.

I was going down the highway about 75 (not in the jeep) when a truck hauling somesorta tank crossed the highway infront of me and another car. The truck went on two wheels and the lady infront of me jammed on her brakes. I didnt notice because i was afraid of the truck tipping over. The last secound i heard the sound of brakes screaching and managed somehow to barely tap the lady infront of me. doing no damage to my car  :weee:

When the police came they said i was at fault because when there is an obstruction in the roadway (the car and the asshat truck driver) the speed limit is effectivly 0 MPH.

So basically if you rearend someone your at fault

now thats just retarded... in mn we are a no fault state. but theres something like if you rear end someone if they had there brakes on its then its their fault but if they don't have their brakes on then its your fault... but then i don't get how its no fault... all i know is whenever someone hits the brakes in front of me and i cant stop fast enough i hit the ditch.

I live in Bemidji were were you heading? i just got my jeep just before all the snow and it's been a learning experience especially with not having anti-lock brakes. I just so happen to be a body man at Steel's Auto Body in Bemidji if your around we could give you an estimate and if you felt like having use fix it I would make sure it was done right. No pressure, just thought I could get some good karma helping a fello jeeper ;)
