Windshield Size?

I purchased a Jeep Windshield Glass, from Craigs list which stated that the windshield was from a YJ, When I picked it up I even asked if it was from a YJ or a CJ, He said "not sure because selling it for a friend, but even if it isn't, a CJ should fit." But, when I tried to fit it, I noticed the glass was smaller.

Can someone tell me what Jeep the goes for, because now I am going to try to sell it, Is this for a CJ?

It doesn't look like Jeep glass at all.  I don't think any of them use tapered glass like that.

That sucks, then I got ripped totally. But I did buy it cheap.
I'll see if I could get a pic of it and post it. Maybe someone could tell from the pic. It might take me awhile to get the pic because I don't have a camera.

ok, now i'm no where near an expert, but i have a lot of exp. with all kinds of jeeps. and i really consider the trucks and rigs from the 50s through the 80s when i look at questions like this. having said that i looked around in my old jeep/kiaser manuals and books, and i think it may be a m-715 or gladiator windshield. one of the older or maybe military models. if it is fact a jeep part at all. they are the only ones i could find that were tapered and flat. anyway if you need a windshield for a yj or cj let me know, i've got both in my barn's loft. yes, a barn full of jeep parts and tools. and a couple of tractors. life is good.

Gladiators like the Wagoneer had convex glass so it can't be from one of those.  M715, M725, etc would have tapered glass though.  :clap:

well, actually it depended on the package the truck came equipped with, the gladiators that is. there were stripped down versions and heavy duty versions, used mainly as tugs and cargo carriers, that had the straight glass. it was more of a commercial option for cheaper production, until  A M General took over.

great. why can't i keep my mouth shut? don't want to make the boss mad. just a little something i learned years ago and wanted to pass on.

i know some. not even alot. i just know where to look for the answers i need. that and being out of work and bored all day for like the last two years, i read up on jeeps. and modified a couple when i had the cash. it's just a hobby.


yeah...okay... a way of life. its addicting. at least its not crack (although that might be cheaper). :smokes:

You know, I'm wrong about this.   :wall:  CJ, YJ and TJ glass does taper a bit.  I went out and took some quick measurements on my YJ.  With the gasket in place my windshield is around 54" at the bottom and 53" at the top.  That's measured from the inside with the fat gasket in the way.  So that might in fact work for you.

it does sit on the lip of the frame about half an inch all the way around. So, if i would use this i would have to glue it down, and put the trim in the gap. I just wasn't sure if this would be safe. Are this windshields held in by the gaskets?

Well, the glass has the gasket on it and the Urethane holds it all in place.  Make sure you sue the right adhesive.  They usually use the blue masking tape to hold the glass in place for 24hrs.
