Have 95 Wrangler
going to put a 3.5 inch fabtech lift in at some point
wanted to put MT 33" baja claws / MT classic rims... but
came across a deal on 32" procomp AT's on 15 x 8 american racing baja rims
told they are 5 x 4.25 Bolt pattern with 3.75 backspace - off a newer TJ
is the bolt pattern ok ( I think so, need confirmation) and the backspace ok in your opinion
Would I need new flares (6 or 7 inch ?) or keep stock to basically cover the tire
thx for any advice @!
Well, someone has their measurements screwed up.5 x 4.25" isn't the TJ bolt pattern. TJ's as well as YJ's and XJ's use 5 x 4.5" bolt pattern. If those wheels are in fact 5 x 4.25" they will not work.
As for the backspacing, I wouldn't use them. It's too much and you're tires are going to be forced outward. They will stick out 3-4" from a stock flare. If you use Rubicon/Sahara TJ flares then it will be 2". Really, though, you want wheels that are in the 4-4.5" range. Stock wheels are 5.5" usually. TJ'ers usually use 4.25-4.75" range with 12.5" wide tires. Most wheels come in 3.75" because that's what was popular size with many trucks in the 70's and 80's. If you have fender laws to deal with it's best to keep the tires under the flares. Some states have limits on flares, too so beware.
I currently run 3.75" BS on a 15x8" wheel. To keep the tires completely covered, I'm running 7" wide warn flares. When I swap axles, I'm probably going to go with 4.5" or more BS so I can go back to 3.75-4.75" wide flares. Wider flares really change the look of the Jeep and make it look lower then it actually is.
