Topic: will a 03-06 top work on a 97-02?

Will some on clear this up for me I have done a few searches and can't relay find a solid answer.
I read a 03-06 will fit a 97-02 but the 97-02 wont fit the 03-06. also read their the same just the 03-06 use the sail cloth. and another one is they use a different front windshield header. The one I'm looking at is a Bestop Sunrider with all the hardware. I  have a hard top so I have no hardware to mix and match with the 03-06 top.
it's a used top or I would just order one for my year.

I just went to Bestop site and looked at the parts list and all the hardware was the same other then the header but the pics look the same.

They changed a bunch of things in 03, I don't know what exactly was changed but I know the tops don't work. I almost traded hard tops with some one so I could change the color, but there's did not fit and it was a 02, mine is a 04.

A friend of mine has an '03+ softop on his '98 and he hates the fit, way too loose and floppy.  I don't know what they changed, but they don't fit very well.

Well, I called bestop today and thie said the padding on the roll bars is thicker on the 03-06 so it would fit sloppy and the windshield channel would be a nightmare to get to fit. also something about 03-06 being wider in the back.
 While I had them on the phone I asked if they made pavement ends and she said Bestop owns the company and their made out of cheaper material and made over seas. She said their not a bad top for the price but you can't get any parts like a new side window if you needed one.she did recommend me to find used oem hardware and buy a bestop Replace a Top rather then a Pavement ends.
